Xiangying Chen

I am currently a postdoctoral researcher in the research group Algebra and Number Theory of Gerhard Röhrle at Ruhr-Universität Bochum. My current project is funded through the DFG SPP "Combinatorial Synergies". Before that, I defended my PhD thesis at Otto-von-Guericke Universität Magdeburg under the supervision of Thomas Kahle. Earlier, I did my master's degree at Freie Universität Berlin and my bachelor's degree at Hochschule Mittweida.

My research interest lies in the interaction between combinatorics, algebra and geometry. I am especially interested in matroids and their generalizations, conditional independence structures, hyperplane arrangements and polytopes. I also like the topics combinatorial Hodge theory, Lorentzian polynomials, tropical geometry and Coxeter combinatorics.
